I had a chance to DJ a launch party/Pop up shop, for an up and coming grass roots fashion line. The clothing line was fresh, and the music I played that day ended up being a great compliment to the product line. So I released a V-day mix cd at a dope party in Toronto called The Main Ingredient. I had to wait until after Valentines weekend to release because of it, so hence the lateness. This mix is not your traditional cookie cutter V-day mixes. Instead of the same old played out R&B mixes, I chose to combine it with the edgy soulful sound of lovers rock reggae. If your thinking why Biscuits & Dumpling..? The biscuits represent the american R&B culture, and Dumpling represent the Jamaican reggae culture. Plain and simple its soul food for your ears. Ok so i'm DJing a party that is celebrating 25 years of DEF JAM music. I was asked to make a sort of R&B mix for this, but most of you know DEF JAM is known for their ground breaking Hip Hop. However DEF JAM did have a quite a nice roster of talented R&B artists. So this mix I made has the DEF SOUL/DEF JAM R&B with some of the more smooth/female friendly Hip Hop that DEF JAM produced.
